Lightning Safety
Clear the common area and seek shelter immediately if you hear thunder. The mail box structure will not provide adequate protection from lightning. Standing under a tree in a lightning storm is dangerous.
The National Weather Service Lightning Safety website provides information on lightning safety and tips to stay safe indoors and out.
Forest Health
The Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) provides information and advice on managing the trees in Wissler Ranch and on individual properties. The CSFS conducts a Wissler Ranch annual review in the fall and inspects for pine beetle infestations so the community can be proactive in removing infected trees and preventing insect spread.
Wissler Ranch is a Firewise certified community. Mitigation work done on individual properties contributes to this certification. Please let the HOA know by sending a short email to the HOA with the type of activity, time, and/or dollars spent. Thank you for helping Wissler Ranch maintain this certification!
Gardening and Landscaping
The Colorado State University Extension has information on landscaping and gardening in our arid Colorado climate.
Wildlife Safety
Colorado Parks and Wildlife is responsible for managing and controlling wildlife in the state. The website has a wealth of information regarding the great outdoors and includes information on avoiding conflicts with wildlife. Also, per the website, it is against CO law to feed wildlife.
