Firewise Program

What is Firewise USA®?

  • Voluntary recognition program
  • Created in 2002 by the National Fire Protection Association with support from USDA Forest Service and State Forestry organizations
  • Addresses risk on private property through education on mitigation best practices and recognition for mitigation work done by homeowners and communities

Why Firewise USA®?

  • Being recognized as a Firewise USA site means that a community is being acknowledged and celebrated by the US Forest Service, NFPA, and other state and local partners for demonstrating that they community understands the unique wildfire risk it faces.
  • And it’s a way to honor the work they’ve done to reduce that risk and to motivate their community for continued engagement and impact.
  • Contact FireWise@WisslerRanch.com for a copy of Wissler Ranch’s FireWise Community recognition or take a picture of the certificate posted in the mail box structure. Insurance may offer a consideration for this status.
